Our Community

Children and families in our community are in crisis. 3,000+ children in our community are placed in foster care every year.

We serve counties in Region 8 of Texas which include:

Every day on average . . .

Children will be removed for abuse and neglect

will be placed in kinship care (relative caregivers)

will need a foster home

You can be part of God’s provision for hurting children and families in our community.

If you’re like most people who hear about this crisis, you want to do something but aren’t sure where to start. Most assume the only two options are to foster or adopt.

They have no idea where their gifts, resources, and time can be strategically used to serve. It takes dozens of pieces to bring healing to children and families. No one church, person, or family can fill all of the roles needed. It requires an Alliance of everyone playing their piece to bring restoration and healing to families.

50% of foster families quit within the first year of fostering due to lack of support
Children are placed in facilities instead of families and siblings end up separated.
Relative caregivers struggle or are unable to say yes
Youth who age out alone frequently end up homeless, in prison, or sex trafficked

We have more abused and neglected children than we have families willing to serve them. Due to a lack of safe, loving, supported homes, our youngest victims of abuse and neglect are swept into the foster care system.

Our team brings all this experience, passion and heart to every church, family, and individual we serve.

These are the children of our Alliance team. We have 15 biological kids, 14 adopted, 31 fostered, and reunified 12 kids.

The Alliance has empowered and inspired our team with creative ways to support kids in crisis. We don’t just have a support group now, but we have implemented multiple ways of getting everyone involved.

Divinity Family Services is grateful for the partnership with the Alliance. As a child placing agency that is dedicated to serving kinship families, we cannot do it alone. The Alliance has come alongside to provide much needed support in many unique ways. At times a special project is needed like adding a fence so a family would meet the minimum standards for licensing, which allowed a sibling group to be adopted together. The Babysitter Certification program, is a huge favorite of our families. Thank you, STAFO for all you do!

Working with Jennifer and her team at The Alliance has inspired our congregation to worship Jesus through participating in work close to His heart, caring for orphans in our community. It is not an overstatement to say that God has used the Alliance to move us from being paralyzed by the problem, not believing we could offer anything to help, to active participation in several capacities. God is awakening our church family through partnering with The Alliance South Texas Alliance for Orphans!
