About South Texas Alliance for Orphans in San Antonio Bexar County

About The Alliance

We are passionate Christ followers who choose to enter the storm and show Radical Hospitality to our hurting neighbors.

OUR STORY
A vision that began at 1 church 15 years ago has grown into an ALLIANCE.

Our team has helped 115 churches and 4800+ people craft intentional efforts in this space. Together, we will end the foster care crisis.

The South Texas Alliance for Orphans was created by a group of foster/adopt industry veterans including our Founder and Executive Director, church leaders, foster/adopt families and child placing agency professionals in 2012 under the name San Antonio Alliance for Orphans. We met monthly for 2 years collaborating on how we, the church, could unite and fulfill our biblical call to care for children in the foster/adopt system.

A small team including our Executive Director, a board member and a small team of foster parents successfully launched a ministry at their church and started handing off the model to other churches desiring to see ministry happen in their church.

In September of 2016, First Presbyterian granted the Alliance seed money to launch as a DBA non-profit. The Alliance received their 501c3 designation in July of 2018. The Alliance serves and equips a collaborative church movement to solve the foster crisis from family crisis to youth aging out.

From that first meeting of foster parents till now our mission has remained the same, build a community with more than enough for every child and family impacted by the foster care system. In a city of 2.5 million people and 1200 Christian churches, there is no reason each one of the over 3,000 children in foster care should languish to find a family willing to say yes for a season or a lifetime.

Trusted Stewardship. Measurable Growth.

Our Impact

Every relationship matters. That includes the relationship we have with the people, churches, businesses, foundations, and grant partners who make this work possible.

The Alliance is committed to transparency, faithful stewardship, and measurable impact across San Antonio and South Texas. Our annual impact reports show how the work has grown over time, how generosity is being put into motion, and how children, families, caseworkers, churches, and young adults are being supported through lasting relationships.

For donors, grantmakers, and partners who want to review our financial filings, our public Form 990s are available through ProPublica’s Nonprofit Explorer.

South Texas Alliance for Orphans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. EIN: 82-2119250 and is committed to transparency and responsible stewardship. Donations are tax deductible.

JOIN OUR TEAM
Staff Positions

Join the mission to serve and equip the Church, individuals, families, and businesses in fulfilling the biblical call to care for children and families impacted by the foster care system.

No open positions at this time.

Director of Strategic Communications (Part Time Hours)

Seeking a Director of Strategic Communications to shape and steward the voice of the Alliance as we mobilize the Church to build lasting relationships with children and families impacted by foster care.

In this role, you will architect and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with organizational priorities and advances our Christ-centered mission. You will serve as the chief storyteller and brand steward, translating real impact into clear, compelling communication that mobilizes churches, strengthens families, and deepens donor partnership.

As Director of Strategic Communications, you will lead messaging across platforms including social media, email, blog, and major campaigns, ensuring clarity, consistency, and dignity in every public-facing touchpoint. You will oversee structured digital engagement 5 to 7 posts per week, manage email marketing streams through Flodesk, repurpose podcast and event content into strategic assets, and drive campaign communications for key initiatives such as Foster Care Awareness Month, Sunday of Hope, the Alliance Legacy Gala, and year-end fundraising.

This is a high-accountability, performance-oriented seat. You will manage campaign timelines, track analytics, deliver monthly performance reports, and provide strategic recommendations for audience growth and engagement. You will collaborate closely with leadership and the Creative Director to ensure messaging is theologically grounded, missionally aligned, and executed with excellence.

We are seeking a candidate who is both called and strategic, someone who thinks in messaging architecture rather than isolated posts. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer with warmth and conviction, experienced in nonprofit or ministry communications, comfortable managing multiple communication streams, and energized by measurable outcomes. Experience with digital campaigns, email marketing, and social analytics is essential.

If you’re called to steward a mission-driven brand, tell stories that mobilize the Church, and execute with clarity, precision, and accountability, we invite you to apply and join the Alliance team.

Church Engagement Specialist (Part Time Hours)

Seeking a Church Engagement Specialist to serve and equip local churches as they respond to the foster care crisis with compassion, strategy, and sustainability.

In this role, you will steward relationships with church leaders across South Texas, walking alongside them as they develop and grow foster, adopt, and kinship ministries. You’ll help churches move from awareness to action—raising understanding, strengthening leadership, and guiding practical next steps that serve children, families, and the professionals who support them.

As a Church Engagement Specialist, you will build trusted relationships, provide strategic coaching, and equip ministry leaders to mobilize their people, gifts, and resources along the foster care continuum—from crisis response to long-term family support and youth aging out of care. Your work will help churches clarify their role, strengthen their teams, and engage meaningfully in God’s heart for vulnerable children.

We are seeking candidates who bring both mission alignment and lived experience, including personal experience as a foster, kinship, or adoptive parent; experience working within the foster care system (such as DFPS, CPA, or case management); or lived experience as a former foster youth. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is relational, strategic, and deeply committed to seeing the Church thrive in this calling.

If you’re called to build relationships, coach leaders, and help churches take faithful, sustainable action—we invite you to apply and join the Alliance team.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Alliance focuses its efforts on Christian churches and their families. “The local church is the most robust service delivery system in America. It has vibrant ministries, caring congregations and essential infrastructure.

Plus, it has the size and influence to solve the foster care crisis in this country. There are more than 200,000 Christian churches and an estimated 100 million evangelical Christians nationwide. Each has a biblical responsibility to care for their community’s orphans and to reach hurting families as called for in James 1:27.”

The Alliance looks to the Bible to define a Christian church as one that:
